What to bring for Pilates

You should bring your own mat and water for your Pilates class. Pilates studios usually provide any other equipment that you might need for the Pilates session.When deciding to purchase a Pilates mat, you may want to choose a mat that has padding (about one centimeter thick) since most Pilates exercises are completed while on the floor. Also ensure that your Pilates mat is firm to support your exercises.

Pilates exercises are done barefoot with no shoes or socks. Wear clothes that allow you to move and stretch freely. However, do not wear clothes that are too loose as your Pilates instructor needs to see the alignment of your body to see if you bones and muscles are engaging. It would also be worthwhile leaving your accessories at home as necklaces, belts and braceless may be distracting.  If you have long hair, you might like to tie your hair back.
